What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation uses implants — or in some cases fat transfer — to increase breast size, restore volume lost after weight change or pregnancy, or improve symmetry. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, with implants placed beneath the breast tissue or chest muscle depending on your anatomy and desired outcome.
Shanghai's plastic surgeons have extensive experience across a wide range of implant profiles and placement techniques, known for proportionate, natural-feeling results tailored to each client's frame and aesthetic goals.
The Procedure Process
During consultation, your surgeon will discuss implant type, size, profile, and placement — subglandular or submuscular — based on your anatomy and goals. Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 1–2 hours, after which a surgical support bra is worn for the first 6 weeks.
Most clients are comfortable within 2–3 days and return to light activity within 1–2 weeks, with strenuous exercise resuming at 4–6 weeks. The final shape settles fully at 3–6 months as the implants drop and soften into place.
